OZ DOESN’T EXIST
The expose' film coming to the world in 2024
That if you went onto the search engine Bing and typed does Australia exist The answer that comes back is no Does Australia really exist or is it some fantasy world that the government is making up And then finally Australia doesn't exist Yeah I agree with that What you're doing is validating the entire myth You're propagating the myth of Australia as a real place on the planet Because it's not Australia doesn't exist Australians don't exist None of this is real The Flat Earth Society refuses to acknowledge the existence There's been a theory circulating on the internet for some time that Australia does not exist And I personally am fucking fed up Australia does not exist If you're an Australian you're either really confused or probably a little pissed off right now Have you ever been to Australia Yes What was it like How were the people They were fine Fine yeah Fine Yeah Just fine Um they seemed quite quite friendly but a bit strange actually Hi Mikee Mikee why are you here today Well I thought it was about time people knew the truth This is the biggest conspiracy of the modern era and people don't realise just how serious this is I guess being Australian means you never know what's going to happen or how you have to prove yourself for the rest of the world you know They make us do all sorts of things to ensure we can survive in any situation should our Australianism be questioned.
Written, Produced, Directed by
Mikel Capriano
Written, directed, and starring Mikel himself, the film takes viewers on a quirky journey as his eccentric character, Mikee, interviews people about their opinions on the existence of Australia. A standout feature of Mikel’s direction is his meticulous attention to shot composition and camera placement. The conversations between Mikee and the interviewees are shot using a classic shot-reverse-shot technique, with deliberate pacing and a handheld camera style that enhances the film’s overall aesthetic.
One of the most compelling aspects of the film is Mikel’s performance as the protagonist. His delivery is steeped in irony, as he embodies the persona of a conspiracy enthusiast with such conviction that it becomes both hilarious and thought-provoking. His ability to balance absurdity with a subtle undertone of self-awareness gives the character a unique depth, inviting audiences to laugh while reflecting on the nature of modern-day conspiracies.
While at first glance the film might appear rough around the edges—such as scenes where lighting equipment is visible—these choices are intentional and add to the film’s raw, authentic feel. Mikel’s thoughtful approach to both filming and editing shines through, creating a clever and entertaining film that doesn’t shy away from embracing its unique charm.
